- Title
A ‘Lost’ Play Found: Thomas Jordan’s The Walks of Islington and Hogsdon.
- Authors
Bancroft, Victoria
- Abstract
The author argues that the supposedly lost play "Youth's Figaries" or "Youth's Vagaries" by English playwright Thomas Jordan is actually another name for his 1641 play "The Walks of Islington and Hogsdon." Caroline comedic plays, the civil war during the reign of Charles I of England, and the Restoration in Great Britain are discussed, as well as the history of the play's performance for Master of the Revels, Sir Henry Herbert. Theater closures in London, England in the 1640s and the play "Parson's Wedding" by Thomas Killigrew are also mentioned.
