- Abstract
Develops a nonlinear model coupling magma flow using the hypothesis that hotspot island chain spacing is controlled by lithospheric flexure. Hotspot tracks that are composed of discrete volcanic islands whose spacing correlates with lithospheric thickness; Positioning of volcanic shields along complicated patterns; Perpetuation by the model of the asymmetry of a chain for long distances and times, thereby producing an alternating series of edifices.
