- Authors
Buxton, Rod
- Abstract
The article offers a criticism of the film "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning," which is part of a franchise of sequels of budget horror films by director Tobe Hooper. It is said the project was initially conceived as an exploitation film. Views of various film critics on the original film as a work of art are presented, wherein it derives its power from the deteriorating stability of the patriarchal family. Ideological references to contemporary pop culture themes are also explored.
