- Abstract
The article "Cultural stereotypes contribute to the gender care gap. How do we achieve a care practice that is open to all? Exegesis of Asha Bhandary's Freedom to Care and suggestions for the German education system" deals with the gender care gap in Germany and its sociocultural reasons. The author Asha Bhandary examines the causes of the gender care gap in her work "Freedom to Care" and presents possibilities for closing it. The article provides suggestions for the German education system to equally promote care and autonomy competencies among all genders. Various educational formats and workshops are recommended to convey knowledge and combat stereotypes. It is proposed to integrate open competence mediation into the curricula of public educational institutions and provide free offerings in adult education. The goal is to create an inclusive culture of care and reduce the gender care gap.
