- Abstract
Ecological engineering has been implemented worldwide to mitigate land use and management stresses. It can remarkably alter the spatiotemporal patterns of carbon sinks and regulate ecosystem functions and processes. However, the linkage between ecological engineering and carbon sink remains unclear. To adequately address this dilemma, we must urgently determine the spatiotemporal patterns and drivers of carbon sinks and illustrate ecological response and feedback mechanisms. We created a Special Issue to answer these questions, establish future research directions, and propose a framework for sustainable land use and management. All these efforts provide a theoretical basis to guide the implementation of ecological projects and contribute to global carbon neutrality.
