- Abstract
The article presents the abstract of a dissertation on the role of Thomas Smyth in the development of the Princeton ecclesiology during the antebellum period in the U.S. It considers the historical and intellectual context of the Princeton ecclesiology. An exploration of the expressions of revivalism, voluntarism, and anti-Catholicism is presented in the study. It sketches the contours of the Princeton ecclesiology introducing the circle's primary contributors and pecularities that characterized the school.
