- Abstract
In this article we discuss the relationships between the perspective of Discursive Practices and Production of Meanings (DP&PM) and the Qualitative Analysis of Thematic Categorical Content (QATCC). First, we present the specificities between the notions of meaning, discursive practice, discourse, and content. Second, we seek arguments for the hypothesis that Content Analysis (AC), despite its origin in representational and quantitative studies, can be used in the broad process of constructionist-based research, as is the case with DP&PM. That is why we reflect on similarities and differences between the visibility techniques of the DP&PM analysis process with the QATCC. At a practical level, the two forms of analysis have already been associated, with the difference that in the DP&PM their constructionist or postconstructionist position is explicit. We conclude that, for certain research projects with information produced in a diverse way, it is necessary to define different objectives of analysis, and this is where the decision for one or another technique, or even a set of them, must be made based on this prior knowledge.
