- Abstract
The article shows the natural history of the state of exception or exhaustion and endurance of American exceptionalism in the novel "Continental Drift" by Russell Bank. Topics discussed are state of nature in contemporary capitalism, American exceptionalism as a condition of exhaustion or drained life and its role in the reproduction of neoliberalism, and contradiction between routes of capitalist success and material conditions that inhibit execution of entrepreneurial opportunities.
