The article describes the cases of two diabetic patients who experienced hypokalemic paralysis. The first case involves a 38-year-old manual laborer who complained of acute-onset quadriparesis of 1-day duration. The second case involves a 30-year-old laborer with quadriparesis and respiratory paralysis of 8-hour duration. The probable mechanisms for hypokalemia are discussed.
