- Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is the most common endocrine disorder that impairs glucose homeostasis resulting severe diabetic complications including retinopathy, angiopathy, nephropathy, and causing neurological disorders due to perturbation in utilization of glucose. Dia-care a poly herbal formulation marketed for diabetes was investigated for its antidiabetic activity in rats. Antidiabetic activity was analyzed in alloxan induced diabetic rats at 250mg/kg&500mg/kg of the polyhedral formulation. Glibenclamide (5mg/kg) was used as the standard drug. The biochemical parameters (glucose, SGOT, SGPT) of the polyherbal formulation were assessed in diabetic rats with the product restored the elevated biochemical parameters significantly. The present studysupports the use of this product as an antidiabetic.
