- Abstract
Latin America and the Caribbean is the region with the highest abortion rate in the World, countries where they also have the most restrictive measures on the subject. In Chile, Law 21.030 decriminalizes the voluntary interruption of pregnancy in 3 causes, but there is a lack of epidemiological reports. Our aim is to describe hospital discharges due to IVE under the three causes between the years 2018-2020 in Chile. For this, the database of discharge by IVE Law was obtained from DEIS for the years 2018 - June 2021, the months of 2021 were left out, obtaining 2208 cases of discharge for the years 2018-2020 for all causes. "Causal 2" reports the most cases for all years. The group with the highest concentration of cases is 25 to 29 years old. Interruption was the most required option (83,38%) as well as psychosocial support (85.05%). Of the sample, 18,03% were foreigners (most of them from Haiti). The largest number of cases were registered in the Metropolitan, Valparaíso and Biobío regions. The conscientious objector staff in these regions is close to 43,94%. In the period described, 2,44% of them had some type of post-procedure complication. The IVE Law represents an advance in sexual and reproductive rights for women, however, there is a lack of updated reports and technical errors of interpretation in previous reports delivered by the Ministry of Health.
