The article explores the concept of viewing the ocean as a living being and the potential benefits of this perspective for ocean literacy and the rights of nature movement. The author highlights the reverence for the ocean in Native cultures and suggests that recognizing the ocean as alive could foster a deeper connection and sense of responsibility towards it. The article emphasizes the importance of relationships and a philosophical view alongside scientific understanding. The author concludes by urging a shift in perception to see the ocean as interconnected with humanity and deserving of the same inherent right to exist.
