- Abstract
A field experiment was conducted at R.B.S. College, Bichpuri, Agra during Rabi and Kharif season 2002 to 2006 in Soybean - wheat crop rotation under the scheme on management of salt affected soils and use of saline water in agriculture. The crop was irrigated with saline and alkali waters. The results revealed that soybean crop irrigated with saline water produced significantly lower soybean grain yield as compared to canal water. However, Soybean yields obtajned under 4 and 8 and that under 8 and 12 dS/m saline irrigation water were observed at par. Wheat crop irrigated with saline water upto 8 dS/m level produced at par wheat grain yield as compared to canal water. However, when irrigated with 12 dS/m saline water the wheat grain yield reduction was signiflcant. Soybean crop when irrigated with alkaline water up to 10 R.S.C. mqjl. produced at par Soybean grain yield as compared to canal water. Soybean grain yields obtained under 10 and 15 RSC mq /1. alkaline water irrigation were observed at par. However, significantly lowest soybean grain yield was harvested under 20 R.S.C. mq/l. alkaline water irrigation. Wheat crop irrigated with alkaline water up to 10 R.S.C. mq/l. alkalinity produced at par wheat grain yields as compared to canal water. Non-significant difference in wheat grain yields was observed under 10 and 15 R.S.C. mq/l alkalinity water levels but significantly the lowest wheat grains were harvested under 20 R.S.C. mq/l. alkalinity water irrigation.
