AHR Forum: An Archipelago of Stories: Gender History in Eastern Europe.
- Authors
BUCUR, MARIA
- Abstract
This article discusses the development of gender studies in Eastern Europe. Since the end of the Cold War feminism and gendered historiography has been slowly gaining more attention from scholars. The author examines how the legacy of communism still influences the intellectual framework that historians of the area work in. Historians such as Mihaela Mudure have written about the estrangement they feel from Western gender studies and feminisim. Much of the discipline builds upon the work of historian Joan Scott.
