- Abstract
Erysiphaceae (order Erysiphales) responsible for powdery mildews, belongs to phyllum Ascomycota in kingdom Fungi, have been identified for years based on morphology, especially of teleomorph. Molecular studies of the latest 25 years revealed that Erysiphales are related to Helotiales, and both belong to class Leotiomycetes in Ascomycota. Phylogenetic data caused also changes in classification of Erysiphaceae. Now classification is based on phylogeny and holomorph characters, especially for anamorph on types of conidial germination. Family Erysiphaceae was divided into 5 tribes, 2 of which into subtribes, and next into genera and sections. The latest studies revealed that in Poland species of 9 out of 16 holomorph genera and 6 sections were found. The key for identification of those taxons has been prepared based on both sexual and asexual morphs. Asexual morph has been shown at figures 2 and 3, and on figures 4-16 some characters of holomorph have been presented. The most important species from the economical point of view for Poland of each 9 genera and 6 sections were given (pointed out). Names for holomorph genera will be those of sexual morph.
