- Abstract
The article discusses the occurrence of fungal infections in patients with human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS). These diseases continue to spread out globally affecting about 40 million people. On the other hand, recent advances in antirectovial therapy have resulted in the reconstitution of immune function in many patients infected with HIV. Moreover, mucusal candidiasis is universal among patients with advanced HIV diseases. Details on the causes of fungal infections among patients with HIV and AIDS are also provided.
