- Abstract
Since few years, there is an increased number of modern rolling stock at Polish National Railways. Introduction of new vehicles requires predicting possible compatibility problems, when converter-equipped vehicles have to be used on a specific railway line. Value of vehicle's input impedance for a certain frequency is an important parameter defining vehicle's current at this frequency Real systems are usually nonlinear, and non-characteristic harmonics may occur. In some circumstances, one can observe resonance conditions and significant increase of amplitudes for specific harmonics. In order to reduce possibility of such situations, it is essential to define properties of possible sources of disturbances and danger of unwanted harmonics generation, Useful tools to analyze this type of problems are models of disturbances caused by a vehicle and 3 kV DC traction substations, as those presented in the paper. Results of application of models for analysis of current harmonics taken from catenary by a traction vehicle, with different scale and level of details, are also presented and discussed
