- Title
The Stylistic Presentation of the "Amusement" and "Admonishment" in the Story-tellers' Scripts during Song and Yuan Times.
- Authors
Han Hongbo; Cui Changjun
- Abstract
The function of amusement in the story-tellers' scripts during Song and Yuan Times is presented by feigning surprise deliberately, making gags and inserting verses; while the function of admonishment lies in advocating loyalty, filial piety and faith, propagating that good and evil have their own rewards, and spreading the Buddhist and Taoist thought of renouncing the family to become a monk or nun. Even beyond the scope of the feudal ethics, the writers boldly criticize the fatuous Song-Yuan officials and their corruption, encourage the young men and women to pursue their true love and fight against the feudal ethics. All of these reflect the ideological tendency of the emerging citizen in Song and Yuan times.
