- Authors
Connor, Andrew; Taylor, Joanne E.
- Abstract
The article discusses research on how hypothyroidism can lead to renal impairment. It references a study by Andrew Conner of the Dorset County Hospital in England, published in the October 13, 2008 issue of "NDT Plus." The researchers described two cases. The first is a 37-year-old woman with a history of swelling in the hands and face, while the second one is a 50-year-old man with weight gain, abdominal bloating and indigestion. They found that thyroid hormone replacement therapy led to a complete recovery of renal function in both cases.
