- Abstract
The article provides a criticism of the postmodern characteristics of Chu Tienwen's novel "Notes of a Desolate Man," with emphasis on the book's representation of gay male culture stigmatized by AIDS. It presents an overview of the novel, an autobiography of a 40-year-old gay Taiwanese man named Xiao Shao. An examination of the novel's contextual politics, postmodern features, and postmodern alienation is also given.
