- Abstract
The article focuses on Anti-Saloon League, the Women's Christian Temperance Union, and millions of high-minded people hailed Prohibition as a victory against the forces of evil. It mentions Prohibition law also allowed physicians to prescribe liquor for medicinal purposes and St. Valentine's Day massacre, and the rise of organized crime. It also mentions Pornography was outlawed when, and if, it appealed to "prurient interests," that is, when it aroused excessive desire.
