The article focuses on U.S.-sponsored torture cases and its social and political impact. It explores how American-style torture evolved and remained, and relates cases of torture and policies including the torture of prisoners at Guantanamo, the techniques approved by former U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, and the change in the style of torture. It also discusses how human rights activists and advocates fight to urge the U.S. government maintain fundamental rights and writ of liberty.
