The coronavirus pandemic spread to Germany in February 2020 and brought in its wake a heavy burden on general healthcare and social life. It also shows significant effects on confinement conditions in forensic psychiatric hospitals. The author provides examples for pandemic-related restrictions and discusses these referring to the principle of proportionality and its relevance for all measures of virus containment.
