Emancipation, Hollywood's Best Civil War Film Ever.
- Authors
Rampell, Ed
- Abstract
The Civil War is among Hollywood's favorite, most frequently filmed wars, and since the silent era numerous popular motion pictures have dramatized "the war between the states." And Now, Let's Talk About Will Smith Emancipation is Will Smith's first full-length movie released after he won the Best Actor Oscar for King Richard - and that "slap hear round the world", when Smith sadly smacked comic Chris Rock onstage during the live televised Academy Awards program in front of millions. I can't speak for others, but for what it's worth, to this film historian and critic, by co-making (Smith also has a producer's credit) a great work of art about Black liberation, in my opinion Emancipation is Will Smith's redemption.
