The article focuses on the importance of abolishing the female prisons for the prevention of sexual abuse. Topics discussed include sexual victimization of female detainees in the prison, mass incarceration of the U.S. female prisoners under the Prison Rape Elimination Act and laws made for the protection of the female prisoners from sexual abuse. It also discusses various alternatives formed due to retaliation and violence.
