- Abstract
The article focuses on the importance of stretching for good health and physical fitness. It reports that both pre-activity and post-activity stretching has little impact on reducing delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) whereas it increases the flexibility or range of motion (ROM) of joints. It also offers information on several types of stretching and their impact on body including ballistic stretching, dynamic stretching and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching.
