- Title
The surveyor as a land professional generalist.
- Authors
McDonald, Neil
- Abstract
This article reflects on a role being practiced by a land surveyor as a land professional generalist using skills associated with urban design, town planing, resource management, landscape architecture, civil and environmental engineering and cadastral surveying. The generalist role of the surveyor is being challenged by an age of specialization, as a result of professional deregulation, rapid innovation in technology, specialist educational qualifications and community demand for specialist advice.
