The article presents a study which examines the evolution of geographic information system (GIS) methods and their contributions to the formation of spatial perspective and understanding. Topics discussed include practical approaches to GIS, the use of the technology for data analysis, and geospatial perspective for education, health, and human services. Also explored is information about the utilization of the system for educational planning such as school redistricting and student safety.
