- Abstract
The article investigates the effect of modifying the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA) resin with amine functional aniline acetaldehyde condensate (AFAAC) on the fracture toughness of the formed networks. Upon curing of DGEBA with AFAAC at ambient temperature using triethylene tetramine agent, it was found that the modified network showed significant enhanced toughness with respect to the impact, adhesive, tensile, and flexural strengths. The result suggests that the improvement of the modified network is a function of the concentration of the modifier. The optimum concentration of AFAAC was found to be 10-phr and was thermally stable up to around 280 degrees Celsius.
