- Abstract
The essay discusses the political role of First Lady Michelle Obama, wife of U.S. president Barack Obama, and her portrayal in the media, especially in regards to her personal appearance. The authors distinguish between black and white writers, discusses black versus white ideals of physical beauty, and mentions black women in the media, stereotypes, and critical analysis of media. Depictions of Michelle Obama's weight, intelligence, and physical fitness are discussed.
