- Abstract
This article discusses the observation of cockroach pollination in the Caatinga dry forest in northeastern Brazil. The researchers observed the cockroach Eurycotis manni interacting with the flowers of two plants endemic to this forest: the bromeliad Dyckia spectabilis and the palm Syagrus coronata. This is the first time a cockroach from the Blattidae family has been recorded visiting flowers. The bromeliad and palm have different floral traits, resulting in different types of cockroach interactions. The researchers also observed smaller cockroach species on the flowers of other plants in the region. The article raises questions about the extent of cockroach pollination in the Caatinga.
