- Authors
Gelpi, Barbara Charlesworth
- Abstract
The article discusses a central moment in the relationship between Tractarians John Keble and Hurrell Froude. The conversation at Tintern Abbey during an evening in July 1825 reveals the nature of their relationship, with the more mystic Froude acting as an inspiration to the pragmatic Keble. The relevance of William Wordsworth's "Tintern Abbey" and "Cistertian Monastery" to the experiences of Keble and Froude is discussed.
