- Title
Investigating Intersex Fish.
- Abstract
The article highlights the findings of research that was conducted by a team of scientists to examine the relation of water conditions that cause fish kills and the incidence of intersex fish among the smallmouth bass from the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers in Virginia. The scientists observed a high variability in both the prevalence and severity of testicular oocytes and noted a seasonal pattern with a higher prevalence during the pre-spawning and spawning season. They also believe that the number of affected fish is associated with land-use patterns.
