- Title
The Ritual of Dark Play in Brat Camp.
- Authors
Egging, Katie Anderson
- Abstract
The article examines aspects of the television reality program "Brat Camp," presented in the summer of 2005 by the American Broadcasting Company television network. The program, which depicts the attempted rehabilitation of troubled teenage children, achieved popularity because, in the opinion of the author, it allowed audiences to indulge in vicarious views of private life and presented unusual aspects of teenage rites of passage. Also under examination are conceptions of persons at play, the importance of ritual and the feeling of community.
