- Abstract
An essay is presented which offers criticism on the epic poem "Cantos" by American author Ezra Pound. The author focuses on the importance of Noh drama in Pound's poetry, suggesting that Pound viewed Noh as a representation of civilization and art in Japan and used it in the poem to counterbalance his views of the destruction of civilization. The author explores references to Noh in "Cantos," including "Canto IV" and "The Pisan Cantos."
