- Abstract
In the era of digital economy, Internet companies cultivate digital capabilities and promote business model innovation, which has become an inevitable choice for companies to adapt to the development of digital economy. Based on the core theory of dynamic capability theory, this paper organically combines the theory of organizational inertia and dynamic capability theory, studies the interaction between the organizational inertia, digital capability and business model innovation of Internet enterprises from the perspective of dynamic evolution, and investigates the intermediary effect of digital capability and the regulation effect of enterprise type. The empirical results of this research using 380 Internet companies in China as research samples show that: the two sub-dimensions of organizational inertia, the three sub-dimensions of organizational inertia, cognitive inertia and digital capabilities, digital perception capabilities, digital operational capabilities, and digital resource collaboration capabilities, and business models Innovations are in an inverted U-shaped relationship; digital capabilities can significantly promote business model innovation; digital capabilities have an intermediary effect on the relationship between organizational inertia and business model innovation, showing the path mechanism: organizational inertia → digital capabilities → business model innovation. Enterprise type has an effect on digitalization. The relationship between ability and business model innovation has a moderating effect, but it does not have a moderating effect on the relationship between organizational inertia and business model innovation, and between organizational inertia and digital capabilities. This research theoretically reveals the effect of organizational inertia, the connotation and structure of digital capabilities, and the internal influence mechanism of how Internet enterprises use inertial systems to identify and enhance digital capabilities and thus promote business model innovation. In practice, it helps to guide Internet enterprises to use structural inertia and cognitive inertia to improve their ability to identify digital opportunities, operate digitally and integrate digital resources, and then explore new growth points through business models, so as to finally achieve sustainable development.
