- Authors
Murphy, James
- Abstract
The article offers poetry criticism of the sonnet "Design" by Robert Frost. Topics include the relation of the natural world to literature, the role of the argument from design as a proof of God's existence in the poem, and the relation of the notion of design to meter in poetic verse. The relation of the ideas of scientist Charles Darwin and of the linguistic theory of generative metrics to Frost's poetry are noted.
