Abstract
The article discusses a study by Wade Clapp and colleagues regarding gene mutations. Clapp and his colleagues investigated cancerous tumors in mice that derived from mutations in the gene called Nf1. The study authors suppressed tumor growth with a c-kit-inhibiting drug named imatinib mesylate, Gleevec. C-kit is a biochemical pathway that must be activated by bone-marrow cells in order for tumors to grow.
