- Abstract
The article presents a study which compares the concentration of metals in the hindguts and fore of the Orconectes virilis and Crayfish Cambarus bartoni and the efficiency of metal absorption. The study examines four lakes in Ontario, in which two have augmented concentrations of zinc (Zn) and manganese (Mn) in the water column. Results show that foregut concentrations is greater than hindgut concentrations with the ratio of foregut elemental concentrations/hindgut elemental concentrations.
