- Abstract
Spodoptera litura, commonly known as tobacco caterpillar is one of the foliage feeding insect and most destructive polyphagous agricultural lepidopteran pest. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of sublethal concentration of Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki viz. Bioasp and Biolep on the nutritional indices of third instar larvae of Spodoptera litura (Fab.). The treated larvae showed reduction in feeding, total faeces production and larval weight than the control. The response of Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki treated larvae showed reduction in the relative consumption rate, relative growth rate and approximate digestibility. However, there was increase in efficiency of conversion of ingested food and effiency of conversion of digested food in treated larvae as compared to the control.
