The author discusses the use of evolutionary theory by historians in various fields. Topics include the work of Sarah Blaffer Hrdy which compares maternal instincts in humans with primates, the works of Frans de Waal on interpersonal conflict and violence, and the of evolutionary approach on aesthetics and display, highlighting how the approach provide better understanding of structural permanence of social tensions.
