- Abstract
An essay is presented regarding the characteristics of some Muslim literary contributions that were excluded in the African American literature. It explores the narrative-formed literary works published in the book "African Muslims in Antebellum America: A Sourcebook," by Allan D. Austin. Moreover, it notes that slave narratives and noble savages are some of the characteristics of Muslims that undermines the ethnicity of Africa.
