- Abstract
The article focuses on the chosen aspects of iconography of a group of woodblock prints by Utagawa Kokunimasa from the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) acquired by the National Maritime Museum in Gdañsk, Poland. Topics covered include how the Sino-Japanese war fought in the years 1894-1895 over the control of Korea was widely illustrated in woodblock prints, and the role of competition of lithographic prints and photography in the diminished popularity of woodblock prints.
