- Abstract
The article discusses the role of micronutrients in health and disease. It says that micronutrient deficiencies are commonly experienced in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). According to the author, iron deficiency is a nutrient deficiency associated with pediatric and adult IBD. The cause of IBD iron deficiency anemia (IDA), the prevalence of anemia in IBD and the efficiency of folate in preventing DNA damage and cell injury are also discussed.
