- Abstract
The article discusses determination of genetic diversity of the South African maize stem borer Busseola fusca using cytochrome b and cytochrome c oxidase I (COI). Topics discussed include use of genetically modified maize to counter the borer resulted in emergence of resistant B. fusca; categorization of B. fusca into different groups based on their haplotypes; and presence of high dispersal capabilities along with low genetic diversity result in rapid expansion and non-reversible evolution.
