- Abstract
The article examines the crowding-out effects and the labor market launch for the tertiary education in the 26 Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. The examination used the attainment data and information on labor market outcomes from "Education at a Glance 2006." The policy issues focus on the potential negative short-term effects, wherein mismatches between the supply and demand of higher-educated individuals bring about. The study indicates that there is no evidence that suggests any crowding-out effect of lower-educated from higher-educated individuals, but there are positive employment effects for individuals with less education in countries expanding their tertiary education.
