- Title
Dancing Around the Issues: Prospects for an Empirically Grounded Philosophy of Dance.
- Authors
DAVIES, DAVID
- Abstract
The article explores various issues relating to the contemporary philosophy of dance. Particular focus is given to issues raised by the scholar Graham McFee, who suggests that contemporary neuroscience is irrelevant to philosophical reflections upon an art form such as dance. Additional topics discussed include what distinguishes dance art from nonartistic dance, what kinds of aesthetic properties influence how dance is perceived and how neuroscience relates to how viewers interpret artistic pleasures.
