- Abstract
The article discusses the article "Critical Communication," by Arnold Isenberg and his ideas about the "question of validity," or whether an argument can be made about art based on opinions about the work. The difference between generalists and paricularists are described as is coherence theory and Jonathan Dancy's argument about morality and reason. Scholar Stuart Hampshire's ideas on art appreciation and logic are compared against Isenberg's ideas. The painting "Saturn Devouring His Sons," by Francisco Goya is discussed for its value and interpretations of it that have been given.
