- Abstract
The article discusses the lack of freedom of speech protection in Vietnam, its global effect, and the possible remedies that can be used by the arrested protesters. Also cited are the 2018 trial of activist Le Dinh Luong on subversion charges under the country's 1999 Penal Code to present the prosecution of journalists and activists, and the restriction by the ruling Communist Party of Vietnam (Dang Cong San Vietnam (CPV) on basic rights like freedom of the press and free speech.
