- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the long-term effects of liposuction surgery on metabolic risk-factors for coronary heart disease (CHD). The researchers hypothesized that postoperative inflammation may have masked the metabolic benefits of liposuction surgery. The findings show that removal of a large amount of abdominal subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) through liposuction surgery does not lead to improved CHD metabolic risk factors associated with abdominal obesity despite a long-term reduction in body fat.
